Turkesterone is an ecdysteroid from Ajuga turkestanica, and it is the hardest ingredient in this category to actually buy. Independent testing of retail products has repeatedly found little or none of it present. Settle two things before formulating: what the assay really measures, and whether the ingredient can be registered where you intend to sell.
What the percentage means
A raw material sold as 10% turkesterone is often assayed as total ecdysteroids, with cheaper 20-hydroxyecdysone making up most of that number. Ask which compound the percentage refers to and against which reference standard it was measured.
Assay method to demand
Insist on HPLC or LC-MS against a turkesterone reference standard on the certificate of analysis. A simple UV absorbance reading cannot separate turkesterone from related ecdysteroids, and that is where inflated numbers originate.
Plant part and substitution
Ajuga turkestanica grows in Central Asia, and its aerial parts and roots differ in ecdysteroid profile. Supply is thin, which is why substitution with Cyanotis or spinach-derived ecdysterone is common at raw material level.
Bioavailability claims
Oral ecdysteroid absorption is poor, and cyclodextrin-complexed grades are sold as the fix. The complexation is real chemistry, but human evidence for a meaningful absorption gain is thin. Do not build a marketing claim on it.
Registration and sport testing
Turkesterone is not a routine ingredient in Malaysian health supplement registration, so expect NPRA to want a full ingredient dossier with safety data, and a longer timeline. Ecdysterone has also drawn anti-doping attention, which matters if your buyers compete.
Formats
Capsules are the only sensible format: the extract is bitter and the dose is a few hundred milligrams, and a capsule hides both. Capsules and tablets can start from as few as 100 boxes, so a turkesterone SKU can be piloted at low risk while the supply story is verified.
